Here is a series of 1950’s race cars that were done for James Boyd of Sunny who turned them into guest a guest comic while I was away on vacation last Summer.

Here is the second D-type Jaguar

  1. The Jaguar D type, from which the E Type evolved, was a very beautiful car. It still is today.

    1. I think the D-type looks especially good in British Racing Green.

  2. Oh yes, the jags are my favorite. As far as the 1950s go, I also liked the Porsche 550 Spyder. Who says a four cylinder engine can’t go fast?

    1. Hmmm… A Porsche 550 would be a good subject for one of these background drawings. I’ll have to look into doing one of those. Thanks RG!

  3. Those things were real death traps. A lot of drivers didn’t walk away from the crashes. The tubular metal frames were not a great design. But they were cool looking.

    1. Yes they were. There was virtually no consideration given to the drivers safety back then.

      …but they did look cool.
