Pesky Gremlins Comic Backgrounds: Computers

Backgrounds: Computers

Computers are a constant source of frustration for us all.  That’s why Buster and the Computer Bug were introduced earlier this year.  I drew dozens of computers both old and new for that story line.  Here are just a few of the computers that showed up in last Summers computer story.

This is an old tape drive.  To be exact, it is an IBM 702.  I think that there are still one or two of these things operating where I used to work!

Here is a computer that PROBABLY doesn’t need an introduction because it is still the butt of many jokes.  The IBM PCjr with the delightful “chicklet” keyboard.

As you can see, I wasn’t quite sure where I was going to crop the final image.

And here is that same mainframe AFTER Buster worked his gremlin magic:

  1. Nice to see the “behind the panels” scenes!

    1. Buster is most appreciative of your comment!

      And I thank you, too!

  2. These are the machines I still think of when I hear “mainframe computer”. Amazing machines fro their time.

    1. That is also what comes to my mind when I hear “mainframe computer”, too. Although, I know that they don’t look like that anymore.
