Ever wonder what happens when you put an even number of sox in the washing machine and an odd number of sox comes out of the dryer? I think that the next several cartoons offer as plausible an explanation as any.
They need to keep their horns warm at night. Nothing is worse than sleeping with cold horns. But it is an old gremlin superstition that you can’t sleep with a matched pair of socks on your horns , so they always need miss matched singles.
Keeping their horns warm on a cold night is a side benefit. They mainly want to steal individual socks to annoy us. What does anyone do with just one sock?
