Another Ill-Conceived Plan
Even in the confines of their own imagination, things go wrong with gremlin plans.
From a behind the scenes point of view, this cartoon set a new record for background effort. I ended up drawing and painting 12 World War I planes before I could come up with a layout that I liked. It was a lot more work than I anticipated. Fortunately, as a result, I have learned to do airplanes MUCH more quickly. I have acquired several references and learned where good examples live on the internet. Here is one set of three German aircraft before they were chopped, sized, otherwise edited:

Howard, you have become the master of canvas and wood. Not since the 1914’s have the skies been more full of balsa and cotton duck.

Why thank you J.P.! I have really enjoyed illustrating the planes. I will be a little disappointed when this story is over and I no longer get to draw WWI airplanes.
