You are correct. The E-type lightweight was a very rare factory built racing version. Only 12 were built. The blue and white one here was driven by Briggs Cunningham and Bob Grossman at Le Mans. I have several other illustrations of this car that I will post later.

I don’t remember ever hearing about the lightweight version. I assume for racing, with a hardtop on the convertible.
