A Little Short
The cat’s valiant leap against all odds seems to be coming up just a little short of it’s intended target. This probably shouldn’t come as a big surprise to readers as, if you recall, Snafu rewrote the script featuring himself as the star. But both cats and gremlins are unpredictable and the story isn’t over.
Today, we have not one, but TWO bonus images. These pictures depict the Sea Monster from the Jonny Quest Episode, The Sea Haunt. I kind of interpolated this picture of the creature creeping on board the freighter that it eventually wreaks havoc upon. I drew this for Fox Layng’s “MonsterMayI 2020” drawing event. For the last several years, Fox has hosted the Monster May event where every day in May, there is a suggested Monster subject. The pictures are then posted to the hashtag #MonsterMayI on Twitter and Instagram.
I was speaking with a friend the other day and it came to light that i never have posted anything from my sketchbook (the “pencil” cartoons don’t count. They are not actual pencil drawings, they received quite a bit of tweaking), so he is something straight out of the sketchbook.

It doesn’t look good for cat, unless he cat do a quick aerial maneuver.
Great drawing, and really nice to see the sketch for it. That must have taken quite a bit of time.

If the cat had been awake and seen what that big balloon was capable of, he might have chose a different tactic.
The sea monster didn’t really take that long to draw. After I scanned the pencil image in to the computer, it only took a couple of hours.

Having the cat pop the big balloon with his claws was a little too predictable. I have something a little different in mind.

I should have called this one “Missed it by that much”.
I would prefer to avoid the sea monster myself. I think he pretty well cleared the ship out on the old Jonny Quest show.
