Pesky Gremlins Comic 566 – All in Your Head 2

All in Your Head 2

Lucas lays it on thick as he attempts to jump start Fubar’s vivid but sputtering imagination.

I spent WAY too much time on the 19050’s Le Mans frame. Can anyone identify the cars?

  1. I don’t think he’s buying it.

    1. Not for lack of trying, but you are right, Lucas hasn’t sold it. But Lucas doesn’t give up easily.

  2. I think I would’ve chosen the Jaguar D type as well.

Great picture! Without looking it up, the Ferrari is maybe a 250? With a Lotus trailing it

    1. The D-Type Jaguar is there and in the lead because the gremlins came with the E-Type Jaguar parked in Elmo’s garage. The second car is indeed a Ferrari however it is a 500TR. The car in 3rd place is British Racing Green but it isn’t a Lotus (HINT: think James Bond).

      1. The XKE was basically the road-going version of the D. I’m unfamiliar with the later model 500 TR. The 250 Testarossa is the one I always think of. And I didn’t know Aston Martin had a racing car that looked like that in the 1950’s.

        1. I am not very familiar with race cars from the 50’s and had to look up examples. I think the Ferrari 250 and 500TR share a lot of the same DNA. The Aston Martin reference SAID that car had raced in the mid 50’s but I didn’t spend anytime verifying the claim. It just looked right, so in it went.

        2. I did see pictures of that Aston racing; it’s just I don’t remember seeing it before.

  3. OK, the answer is yes, I would feel like I had gone to heaven to be driving any one of those even in a parking lot much less Lemans.

    1. I would be delighted just to see one of those cars up close.

      1. The only car of that type that I’ve seen in person is the Maserati 200 SI.

        1. Great pictures of the Maserati! I never been allowed that close to car like that If I had know that you had that on your site, I would have included it in the cartoon.

For those of you that don’t know Binky (Peter) has a website that contains a sizeable collection of his automotive photography. There are some terrific subjects (like the Maserati 200). Follow that link and see for yourself.

        2. At the time I took the pictures, I didn’t know how much that car was worth, around $2 million i believe. It was behind a rope, but you could still get close to it. And boy was it LOUD!
