Off Script
As regular readers might have noticed, this story has been plagued with script issues. Snafu picks a particularly critical moment to point out that things have ventured off script.
Today’s web page bonus is from last year’s Black Friday cartoon. A Conan-like character has shown up for the last several years to battle his way through the barbarians fighting for those sweet deals. Last year, I decided to try to make the Conan-like character actually look more like Conan. This was much more difficult that my usual wing-it method. I actually picked up up a couple of books on art anatomy. After numerous failed attempts, this one came out.

Sounds like an ideal time for a rewrite, or maybe a complete do over.
Drawing people realistically is difficult! Turned out good, though.

Too bad there isn’t an “undo” button for this strip.
Drawing realistic people is difficult. At least for me it is. I probably should practice it more often.

Tell the truth, H! You rescued the script, dinja?
Cool bonus pic, man! Books on figure drawing can getcha started, but nothing beats lots of practice.

I’ll say this, although the gremlins are reluctant to admit it, I do have quite a bit of influence when it comes to the script.
Wouldn’t it be nice if all you had to do was read the book to be good a something? Drawing reasonably good human figures and recognizable faces are a couple of areas that I need to spend some time practicing. You are right, nothing beats practice!

At least the cat is smiling.
H Stacy
That is one inexplicably happy cat

Somebody forgot to tell the Cat this wasn’t supposed to happen. Scripts are only for organised people anyway

It’s not just the cat who’s ignoring the script. The gremlins have taken liberties with it, too.
