Backgrounds: Race Cars
Here is a series of 1950’s race cars that were done for James Boyd of Sunny who turned them into guest a guest comic while I was away on vacation last Summer.
Here is the second D-type Jaguar
Followed by an Aston Martin DBR2
And finally, a Ferrari Testarossa

The Jaguar D type, from which the E Type evolved, was a very beautiful car. It still is today.

I think the D-type looks especially good in British Racing Green.

Is there any other colour?

Oh yes, the jags are my favorite. As far as the 1950s go, I also liked the Porsche 550 Spyder. Who says a four cylinder engine can’t go fast?
H Stacy
Hmmm… A Porsche 550 would be a good subject for one of these background drawings. I’ll have to look into doing one of those. Thanks RG!

Those things were real death traps. A lot of drivers didn’t walk away from the crashes. The tubular metal frames were not a great design. But they were cool looking.
H Stacy
Yes they were. There was virtually no consideration given to the drivers safety back then.
…but they did look cool.
