Pesky Gremlins Comic Backgrounds: More Jaguars

Backgrounds: More Jaguars!

More Jaguars! First up is the one and only XJ13 Jaguar race car prototype.  Back in the mid 1960’s, Jaguar decided it wanted to go racing, again.  This visual stunning car was the result.  It also was equipped with Jaguar’s mighty V12, which was located behind the driver and contained in a transparent bubble.

Sadly, things did not go well for this new race car.  It was almost immediately wrecked, no one was hurt, but Jaguar pulled the plug on it new racing efforts.  Here is what it looked like after its wreck:

It is rumored that these guys just might have had something to do with the accident.

But it was just a rumor.

Next are two more examples of why the die cast models come in so handy.  Getting or finding pictures of a rare and expensive E-type from these angles would prove difficult and/or time consuming.

  1. Really good drawings.

  2. Jags are sooooooooooooooo cool!

    1. Jaguar made some great looking cars. Too bad you never see one on the road anymore.

  3. The XJ13 is one beautiful car. Too bad it never raced. Someone is making replicas, which may not be the real thing, but still would be pretty neat.

    1. The XJ13 was and is a beautiful car (they rebuilt it). They are making replicas of the XJ13? With a Jaguar V-12?? Have you actually seen one??

      1. Someone made an “exact replica” of one, and there is at least one company making basically kit cars of them, but from the pics on their website they look to be quite authentic looking.

        1. Thanks for the link. That looks like a most convincing replica. I bet it would be a lot of fun to drive. sigh… I suppose I should just be content to draw them.
