Pesky Gremlins Comic 684 – Following Instructions

Following Instructions

Police Officer Stern has found the definitive source of information for dealing with monsters, but has some reservation about what he and the town are instructed to do.

For those who have not seen the 1958 version of “The Blob” or simply forgotten, the instructions contained in our book “Dealing with Monsters for Dummies” is exactly how the Blob was defeated in the original movie.  In the movie, the towns people froze the Blob with CO2 fire extinguisher, had the military pack it into a very large crate, fly it to the Artic, and parachute the crate down to the frozen surface.

For today’s web page bonus image, we have our old friend the Werewolf-for-hire.  He is still a little sensitive about not being included in this years Halloween series, so as they say, we threw him a bone.

  1. Get that Officer a towel, he still has blob on him!

    1. Only one more cartoon to go and the police officer will get a nice fluffy towel.

  2. I thought I recognized that strategy! Nice parody!

Whoa! That werewolf is in one of his more menacing moments…

    1. The original ending to the Blob movie probably wouldn’t make to the screen today. We have a slightly different ending that will appear on Halloween (tomorrow)

The werewolf didn’t get to do “menacing” when he appeared in the Halloween story several years ago, but we did have this image from his portfolio…

  3. It’s good they found instructions on how to defeat Mr. Blob, but procuring a ride to the arctic might prove rather difficult and expensive.

It’s too bad you couldn’t have hired the werewolf to fight the blob. Might not be effective, but they probably could have sold tickets.

    1. There is still one more Halloween cartoon to go. The towns people might not follow the instructions and save themselves a bundle in shipping charges.

The Blob vs the Werewolf wouldn’t be a fair fight. The Blob is in a much heavier weight class.

  4. If it’s in the book & it worked in the movie I don’t see how it can fail. Unless you don’t have the resources to pay for the Military intervention

    1. Isn’t military intervention to protect us from monsters covered by our taxes??

  5. I just watched the Trailer on YouTube & it said “Starring Steve McQueen & a cast of Exciting Young People”. Ha Ha!!! I must say I’ve never heard that in a movie trailer before

    1. Ha! yes the trailer does say that. The Blob movie doesn’t stand the test of time very well, does it?
