Out of Context
Lucas continues to stew over Snafu’s recent literary success. Looking through the book, does not prove helpful to Lucas’ mood.
The bonus web page image for today is from the “Trouble” story from earlier this year. This is a Bristol F2B, a two-place fighter from World War I. I drew around 30+ variation of this airplane for the “Trouble” story. It is kind of a complicated plane to draw as the lower wing is of an odd configuration and there is more rigging than on your average WWI fighter. Typically, one would get sick of drawing the same thing over and over, but I kind of grew fond of this quirky aircraft and wouldn’t mind doing a much more detailed version when time permits.

That’s called creative writing!

Snafu’s writing is quite creative. There is probably a horrifying illustration to go along with it, too.

Looks like someone might be a bit jealous. Though I can’t say I blame him.
I like your bi-pane drawing. But I don’t see what’s odd about the lower wing.

Lucas is more than just a little jealous.
You can’t really see it well from this perceptive, but the lower wing is not actually connected to the fuselage. It is about a foot below the fuselage and attached to the rest of the plane by the landing gear struts.

I don’t know whether to say Lucas is funny when he’s angry or angry when he’s funny…
Nice illustration of the biplane! Wonder why the second wing wasn’t connected to the fuselage?

I am not certain which it is, but I am thankful that you find him funny!
I don’t know for sure why the wing is not set in the fuselage but if I were to guess, it would be for the extra bit of lift the section of wing would provide.

That would be my guess, as well. Making it as one wing may also make it a little more rigid perhaps.
