Today's cartoon is the gremlins take on the annual CRAZYSummerBlowup event hosted on X (Twitter).

It has been quite a while since any bonus images or work-in-progress shots have been posted here, and I thought the beachball gremlins would be an interesting subject to pick that thread up again. With that in mind, here are the individual beachball gremlins.

From a technical standpoint, these are composite images that combine the traditionally hand-drawn gremlins with a 3D-rendered beachball. In simpler terms, the gremlins pictures are just virtual decals stuck to the beachball model.

Stay away from pins!!
I wondered if the beach balls were 3D models. Did you actually use a decalling process to put the images on the balls, or did you do that manually?

The beachball gremlins definitely need to stay away from pins and anything else that is sharp and pointy.
After I drew the individual gremlins, Blender was used to put the gremlins on the beachballs and render them. Blender doesn’t actually use the term “decal” anywhere but that does describe what it is doing.
