This cartoon touches a theme that I haven’t seen in a long time.  The theme is something like “Only I can pick on my little brother.”  An example would be an older sibling that constantly needles, annoys, and criticizes a younger sibling.  To an outside observer, the younger siblings treatment might seem kind of mean spirited.  However, if anyone else were to try and treat the younger party in a similar manner, the older sibling would spring to a vigorous defense.  There are rules that govern the treatment of the younger one and more importantly boundaries that are not to be crossed.  So, all that seemingly mean spirited needling, annoyance, and criticism is simply affection turned on it side.
